Puerto Rico Comic Con 2026 Draws Over 50,000 Fans
Puerto Rico Comic Con 2026 Opens to Record Crowds
Puerto Rico Comic Con 2026 opened its doors at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan on Friday, April 3, drawing thousands of pop culture fans dressed as their favourite characters from comics, film, television, anime, and video games. The three-day event, one of the largest of its kind in the Caribbean and Latin America, was expected to attract more than 50,000 attendees across its full run — a reflection of the growing global reach of pop culture conventions and Puerto Rico's passionate fan community.
Celebrity Guests Drawing Major Crowds
The headline celebrity guest for the 2026 edition was British actor Jamie Campbell Bower, widely known for his role as Vecna in Netflix's Stranger Things as well as his appearances in the Harry Potter and Twilight film franchises. Long queues formed outside the convention centre as fans waited for the opportunity to meet Bower for photo opportunities and autograph signings. Other notable guests included Ron Perlman, famous for his leading role in the Hellboy film series; Sean Schemmel, who has voiced Goku in the English dubbing of Dragon Ball Z for decades; and Vivienne Medrano, the animator and illustrator who created the acclaimed adult animated series Hazbin Hotel, which became a major hit on Prime Video.
Local Talent and Superhero Fest
Puerto Rico Comic Con 2026 introduced the new Superhero Fest 2026, a festival that brings Puerto Rican comic book characters from the page to the screen through short films inspired by the work of local artists. More than 450 exhibitors, illustrators, artists, and local comic creators participated, making the event a significant platform for Puerto Rico's creative community. The annual Cosplay Showcase remained among the most anticipated moments of the convention, with elaborate, handcrafted costumes on display from participants representing a vast range of pop culture characters. Ricardo Carrión, founder and executive producer of Puerto Rico Comic Con, described the event as "testimony to the growth of pop culture as a cultural and economic phenomenon."
